The Paxherbals project which originated at the Benedictine Monastery in Ewu, Edo State of Nigeria has been heralded as a success story in the development of “traditional” herbal remedies in Nigeria and the possibilities for the provision of primary health care in communities in Nigeria and Africa. But it is much more than this. It is an experiment and pilot project for “Integral” or Holistic Participatory Action Research which has given birth to the Ofure (Pax) Integral Research and Development Initiative (OFIRDI).
